looks aren't everything;

Name: Daphne Annaliese Millbrook
Age: 17, almost 18
Gender: Female
Power: Super Speed
Alignment: Daphne thinks of herself as a villain because of the bad things she's done, like betraying her friends to Arthur Petrelli, but others see her as a caring person who does bad things to protect others... Neutral would sum Daphne up better than one particular statement, she's a bit of a fencesitter.

Personality: Daphne has very strong beliefs and emotions, her heart is always on overdrive, and her tongue is always equipped with exactly the right witty comment for the situation. Daphne is naturally good with words and is very intelligent, but unluckily she can be very negative and be full of hatred somedays because of what her life has thrown at her. Cerebral Palsy isn't easy to live with, and because of this, Daphne can be a supermassive primo emo cow on days when things aren't going her way. She likes to make people suffer the way she has, not normally through physical means, but through mental and emotional means, just by little glances and sneers can Daphne make you feel upset and two feet tall.

Despite this, Daphne also has a very loving side to her that gets the better of her when she's in pressurized situations. She loves to love people, and she loves relying on people to return that love to her threefold, but when they don't, Daphne instantly goes into primo emo mode. She likes to try and help people, but can be very easily distracted, and can be very stubborn also, only doing something if she can find a reason for doing so. Ever since discovering her ability, Daphne has found she has a lingering respect for life that she would never have discovered without her ability, and she likes to think about happy thoughts, a strong believer in visualisation. Someday, Daphne hopes she can be free from the shadow of her past and move forwards with her life and forget about her Cerebral Palsy and start over, and be able to fully love again.

History: Annaliese Jurgen was born in Frankfurt, Germany, and her future husband Peter Millbrook was born in the "city of lights" Paris, France. The pair met at the afterparty of the performance of Tosca in the Opera Populaire in Paris, and the two got talking and Daphne's life began from there. Annaliese, who was now living in Paris with Peter, had high expectations that their child was going to be a little boy who would bring home a girl, live a propsperous life as she had, and be a happy boy forever more. Annaliese had always had a vision of her ideal life, and living with Peter and having a child was giving her a chance to grab her ideal lifestyle. However, her dreams were shattered when her baby was not in fact baby Jacques as she had hoped, but in fact an un-named female baby that Annaliese was instantly reproachful of. Giving the baby to Peter to name, Peter decided to name the baby after his mother Daphne, and her middle name after her mother Annaliese. Daphne Annaliese Millbrook. A beautiful name for a beautiful child, thought Peter. However, he could not have been more wrong.

As if Daphne had not been a big enough disappointment to her controlling mother already, when she was diagnosed at only six months old with having Cerebral Palsy, Annaliese was saddened and instantly regretting ever having her child. Peter realised there was something wrong with Annaliese, but he was too late to save her. Annaliese had gone into a state of post-nasal depression and had no need to live anymore; her deformed child tearing her and Peter's relationship apart at the seams. Baby Daphne was the first to discover her mother's lifeless body on the bathroom floor with blood coming from her wrists and a broken bottle of Chardonnay lying next to her, and Peter was left alone to raise Daphne alone. With too many bad memories and demons left in Paris, Peter decided to start anew, and live in a new place, far far away from where Annaliese lay. He found a cheap farm in Kansas, just like in his favorite childhood film The Wizard Of Oz, and moved there immediately to raise Daphne, vowing to never tell her about why or how her mother had died.

However, Daphne was a very inquisitive child, and wanted to know more about her mother and why they had never met. Every time Daphne asked, he would tell her the same story, that her mother had moved away because she was an artist and liked to paint alone, an awful alibi, but it was enough to shut Daphne up for a while, at least until she reached her teens. However, when Daphne turned fifteen, she wanted to know more about her childhood, and wouldn't accept the usual alibi for an answer. Getting moodier and stroppier every day Daphne lived, hating her illness and inability to walk, her father was starting to tire of having Daphne around the house, and told her the real truth of how her mother died in a spirited rage. Daphne can still remember his words to this day; "Your mother killed herself, alright? She killed herself because you weren't a boy, you were a freakish little girl instead. She didn't love you, she didn't want you, and she never will. So why pursue it, Daphne? Just forget her."

The years after that were full of silence; Daphne never spoke to her father, apart from saying what she wanted for dinner. Her father had screwed things up between them big time, and sometimes Daphne would try to fall over on purpose to get some attention from her father. Two years on, Daphne stood outside in the sunshine next to her homemade scarecrow Ray, when something strange happened. The sky suddenly began to darken, and then the next thing Daphne knew, she was dazzled for a split second by the eclipse that lay above her head, like a beautiful suspending orb. The next thing Daphne knew, she was lying face-down in the mud next to Ray, feeling dizzy and disorientated. Her crutches were behind her, and Daphne swore. She would have to get her father to help her up, and Daphne scowled. She hated relying on people to do things for her. In an angry rage, Daphne tried to push herself up on her arms, but collapsed as she heard a sickening crunch from her legs. Daphne started to feel sick again, but not until her legs suddenly twitched wildly and almost as if by magic, Daphne was standing up, and her legs were moving in an orderly fashion. Daphne was walking! She cried with happiness, but as her legs twitched again, she realised that she could move faster. Hardly daring to breathe, Daphne tried to run, but found herself almost flying, everything that she passed morphing into a giant blur. Daphne frowned. Nobody could run that fast, not even the people in those comic books she'd read as a child. Suddenly Daphne clicked. She had an ability, a great power. She could move at the spped of light, if not faster! She was like Superman, strong and newly oiled, and her power had saved her. She could see the world, but first she had to say goodbye to her father.

Standing on the verandah, Daphne knocked on the window, and smiled at her father enigmatically, standing withouht her crutches. Her father gasped, and Daphne beamed. "I'm going Dad. I'm going to see the world, and you can't stop me. No-one can. Just try and catch me. Watch this," Daphne said, and ran to the end of the field in a split second. With a final wave, she was gone.

Off to see the world. just as she'd dreamt.

Roleplay sample: Well, today's been positively crap, thought Daphne angrily as she stalked the streets of Paris, her iPod blaring full blast into her ears. Today she was listening to Rage Against the Machine, the perfect band to match her mood. There really was something quite theraputic about swearing along with an American dude over the top of heavy metal music. that much Daphne knew. What she didn't know was where the stinking bank was. It was her first day in the Big Apple, and she'd gotten herself lost in about two hours. Then again, it helped if you could move at the speed of light. It sure made places easier to find. Good thing no-one was watching was she sped away, leaving a large trail of soundwaves behind her, deafening everybody in the vicinity. That itself would have allowed her to make an escape.

Daphne almost cried when she arrived at the bank. The queue was streaming out of the door, and Daphne cursed. The was no way she was waiting in this god damned line. The best things in life were free, right? At least, her father had been a strong believer in that theory. Time to put it into practice. Running along the street as as fast as she could, Daphne turned down a deserted side road, and stopped when a large sign caught her attention. The Charles Deveaux Building, this way, free of charge it read. Daphne smiled. Whoever this Charles Deveaux dude was, he sure knew how to live it large. The building was huge! Ornate carvings lay everywhere, and from down in the middle of the street, it towered a good fifty or sixty feet above her. Cool place for an adventure! she thought, and sped past the information desk and up to the room. Daphne hated people who gave out those colourful flyers about rubbish that nobody read. Instructions? Yeuk.

At the top of the building, Daphne leant over the balcony, grinning at how high up she was. It felt like she was on the top of the world, rediscovering her creation. A large poster with a green-faced witch on advertising Wicked caught her eye, and she suddenly realised that she could see Times Square, from all this way away. Daphne grinned. She loved musicals, and made a mental note to self to go and see Wicked. From what she'd heard over in Kansas, everyone had said it was amazing. Taking one last look at the beautiful scenery, Daphne ran back down the stairs, to discover the beauty that New York was hiding.
