The hospital[niki/open] « Thread Started on Jul 10, 2008, 6:43am »
[[hope you don't mind, i figure if/when niki wakes up she can meet max, that way niki can still be in threads while we don't have peter/claire]]
The hospital was bright, far to bright on the eyes of the youngish human avian creature that was being wheeled in. The gurney that held the female was getting covered in blood, crimson liquid that flowed from various wounds on the girls body. Her eyes stared at the bright lights dotted on the ceiling, deep blue pools of radiance that seemed to shimmer with the glow of the lights. People, well doctors, their faces were reflected in her eyes, as they stayed unmoving and unblinking. The daunting antiseptic smell rose in her nose like a bad smell, lingering in her scent passages before she wanted to choke. With one, quick movement of her hand, she touched her chest where her ribs were, looking at the three jagged lines on the palm of her hand. Whatever attacked her was a knife wielding maniac, which made her want to laugh out loud. After all the things she had seen, after being who she was(not just a human, rather a freak of nature, more so because of the snowy white feathered wings attached to her shoulder blades), she was nearly killed by some human with a knife. Bah, go figure. It wasn't like Max had the best of luck, and if she got killed by a human and not someone with powers, it would so not surprise her.
"Look out, coming through. I need morphine to control the pain and, where the bloody hell is James?" The male doctor snapped rather angrily. Glancing up she saw he had brown hair, a bitter look on his face that did not extend to his cold eyes. You could tell from these eyes that he was hiding something, they conveyed an empty, cold feeling. To the untrained eye you couldn't tell, but Max knew better. Jeb had taught her from a young age to read people, from their expressions to their eyes. It was all part of survival and one she needed to know. Since she had wings, she needed all the hints and tips for survival she could get. Speaking of wings, did the doctors notice? They seemed oblivious but maybe they realized that a life was on the line if they didn't do their jobs. Thank god some people know what to do and not simply gawk at them. Max thought, sinking in a deep slumber as the morphine was administered and kicked in.
Seconds, minutes, hours passed and her body was covered in bandages, stitches were holding the wounds that couldn't heal on its own and more pain killers were swimming through her body. Raising her hand, she touched her head and felt needles, and tubing. What the? Max thought, panic set in. "Your awake, thats good. You have lost alot of blood and you still haven't recovered. Your in a special unit." The way he said special unit made her blood freeze and her heart stop beating. What does he mean? Max thought, unable to move much and from the movement, it caused a dizzy sweep in her head. "What do you mean? Tell me!" Max snarled at his retreating back. Not wanting to stay in, she ripped the tubes out, the needles out(with a soft yelp) before standing up. Her legs were shaky and she nearly tripped, opening up her wings to stabilize herself. Another yelp came from her vocals, realizing her wing had a tear in it, yet it too was stitched to help heal. Walking to the door, she kicked it open and began to wander through the halls, stopping at one that looked interesting.
Pushing it open, Max glanced around, wondering who else was in this special ward. Every minute she spent here she wanted to get out. Her wing ached, her wrists hurt, her stomach was rippling with pain. Without the morphine in her body she crashed into the ground with a mutter of curse words she would never let Jeb hear her say and looked down at the prestine clean floor.
